Queries
The default search method finds pages containing all of the words specified in a search query. There is no need to include "and" between terms. The order of your search terms will affect search results.
Common Words
Common words and characters such as "the", "where", and "how", as well as certain single digit numbers and single letters are ignored by the search engine. If such a word is necessary for your search, include it by putting a "+" sign in front of it. (A space is needed before the "+" sign.) Another way to keep common words in your search is to search by phrase.
Searching by Phrase
Phrase searching may be specified by enclosing the search string in double quotes (e.g., "special offers" matches only words appearing next to one another).
Word Variations
When appropriate, your search terms will be expanded by the search engine to include variations of terms.
Restriction by Website
Using the search page you can search all Wolfram sites or limit your search to a particular site.
Advanced Search
The advanced search page will allow searches: with all of the words, with the exact phrase, with any of the words, without the words. Searching may also be done for links to a particular page.
Note: Our search engine is powered by Google. Expanded search help is available on their website.
